Harmful Effects of Inbreeding

Are they using our lack of knowledge of ancestry to experiment on us within black communities? Many indigenous elders say: In order to fully know who you are, you should be able to identify your ancestors going back—at least 7 generations. Many African Americans who come from impoverished backgrounds have a higher chance of inbreeding due to lack of knowledge concerning their ancestral lineage. Not knowing who you are—where you come from and who you are related to can be detrimental to your bloodline and eventually lead to extinction of your lineage.

Studies show that—viable inbred offspring are more likely to be inflicted with physical deformities and genetically inherited diseases. Research confirms an increase in several genetic disorders due to inbreeding such as [blindness], [hearing loss] neonatal [diabetes], limb malformations, disorders of sex development, [schizophrenia ]and several other conditions. Moreover, there is an increased risk for [congenital heart disease ]depending on the inbreeding coefficient (See coefficient of inbreeding) of the offspring, with significant risk accompanied by an F =.125 or higher—in part—Woodley(2009)
